Hat Creek Burgers
Hat Creek Burgers has been a Texas staple since it first opened in Austin in 2008. Eventually, they brought their restaurants and playgrounds to us in Houston! Originally a food truck, Hat Creek Burgers has always been known for their high-quality ingredients. Like never-frozen beef and freshly baked buns that come together to create a divinely juicy burger. When it comes to the Hat Creek Burger experience, they are focused on family meals without devices. Where conversation and connectivity are the stars of the menu.
Their restaurants are also known for their playgrounds (and their happy hours for grownups!) Their menu has a little something for everyone, from freshly made burgers to salads and bowls to chicken tenders – and for those of us with a sweet tooth, their milkshakes are pretty irresistible. And if you have early risers in your family, join them for a pajama party with a tasty home-cooked breakfast, flowing coffee, and plenty of playground for the kids to enjoy.
Preslee’s
Preslees is a unique restaurant and bar where “Southern hospitality meets the modern family.” Designed with the entire family in mind – including the furry ones – Preslees is the perfect Houston restaurant to relax on the back patio with a drink, watching while the kids burn off some extra energy on the playground before closing out the night in front of a cozy fire pit. Their menu gained recognition for its Southern influence, with dishes like fried pickle chips, Frito pie, gumbo, hush puppies, collard greens, fried okra, and delicious signature sandwiches. Grownups can enjoy a variety of frozen drinks (perfect for a hot Texas afternoon or evening), and everyone can indulge in an ice cream cone. Their outdoor space has plenty of hammocks and swings for a fun and whimsical ambiance and ideal for insta-worthy pictures. Plus, they have a fantastic weekend brunch menu. What’s not to love?!
Willie’s Grill and Icehouse
Willie’s Grill and Icehouse brings the true Texas Icehouse restaurant experience to the Houston community with food and playground fun for the entire family. Since 1993, they’ve been bringing people together over cold drinks and delicious food for an opportunity to kick back and relax with neighbors, family, and friends. Willie’s embodies the indoor/outdoor open-garage-door spirit of an Icehouse with big patios, reclaimed materials, and murals created by local artists.
Their menu is as authentically Texas as it gets, with Southern Cajun classics, Tex-Mex favorites, and giant old-fashioned burgers. Everything is made daily from scratch. So your meal will always taste fresh because it is fresh. Whatever you’re craving, Willie’s has it, from nachos and wings to shrimp and catfish to chicken fried steak and baby back ribs. Their family packs make it easy to enjoy a meal with the entire family, and when your plates have been licked clean, there are plenty of decadent desserts to top it all off (but I won’t tell if you don’t feel like sharing!)
