In search of things to do with the kids this weekend? Sometimes choosing things for the family to enjoy together can be a little difficult. That’s why I’ve come up with a small list for you to check out! Here are a few great things to do in Houston with kids!
Not only does the Children’s Museum Houston offer family fun, but it’s a great place to explore and educate at! Located at 1500 Binz St, Children’s Museum Houston has everything, from a cafe to Secret Spy Games and world-class exhibits. This museum dedicates itself to providing fun, encouraging all ages from zero and up to explore. Their fun exhibits include Tot*Spot, Eco Station, Cyberchase, Inventor’s Workshop, Newton Know-How, Genius Station, Challenge Course, FlowWorks, How Does It Work?, Invention Convention, Kidtropolis, USA, Yalalag, Maker Annex, SECRET Spy Game, Power Science Lab, and the Kids’ Hall. The museum also features a parent resource library! This is the perfect place to spend the day with your kiddos. If you work up an appetite while you’re there, you can also stop at their cafe to grab lunch. On your way home, pick out a souvenir to take home from the gift shop!
Located at 6200 Hermann Park Drive, the Houston Zoo is a wonderful connection of animal communities and ecosystems, perfect for the kids to marvel upon! The Houston Zoo is a leader in the global effort to save animals in the wild and is home to over 6,000 permanent residents/animals, as well as being the second most visited zoo in the US and the most attended cultural attraction in the region!
The Houston Zoo has many exhibits and unique attractions like the wildlife carousel, animal encounters, dining experiences, and more. Their exhibits are full of hundreds of species of animals. They include bird habitats, an African forest habitat, a bug house, Carruth natural encounters, an outdoor explorative play area, a Galapagos Islands habitat, a giraffe feeding platform, John P. If you have got hands-on and tapping into your creative streak, The Mad Hatter is the perfect place to take the kids! You’ll find The Mad Potter at 1963-A W. Gray St. and experience some cool activities! At The Mad Potter, you’ll first pick out whatever pottery pieces you will work with, ranging from plates and mugs to banks and boxes. After you pick out your pottery, you can have a blast as you paint your pieces and personalize them! This serves as such a great bonding experience for you and your children!
From painting pottery to visiting hundreds of zoo animals and having a blast at the kid’s mini city in the Science Museum, these local spots are perfect for your next outing or adding to your list of things to do in Houston!
